Artworks Wales Residency , 2002
A recent project that highlights some new techniques and ideas was a six week woodland residency undertaken for an art agency called "Artworks Wales". This Summer project was part of a series of "taster" sessions to be set in a wood called The Dingle, in Llangefni, Anglesey, with the aim of promoting and attracting more people into The Dingle. I conducted environmental sculpture workshops for local schools and community groups as well as creating temporary installations made from sycamore leaves, seeds, branches and pine cones. Days were spent developing new ideas, sketching out outlines and shapes of relics discovered in Neolithic age burial hoards. Creating these outdoor charcoal images has established a positive new direction with opportunities for future experimentation and the work will be exhibited as enlarged photographs documenting the course of the residency. The Dingle project was funded by Artworks Wales and Coed Cymru.
